Gerdau-Laisa – gas extraction and treatment plant

The project involved the mechanical assembly and services of a new plant for the extraction and treatment of gases generated in the electric arc furnace of the steelworks unit.
Included:
New 1,800 bag filter with double cage
– 35-metre-high chimney
– 2.5 metre diameter duct to connect the new unit and the furnace
– 2 fans of 220.000 m3/h each one
– Dust silo
– Dust transport system
– Metal structures
– Compressed air installation
– Electrical power
– Instrumentation and control
– Associated civil works.
The assembly involved around 300 tonnes of steel, some 300 lifting operations at heights of up to 30 metres, 3,500 metres of welding, 2,000 metres of power cable and 5,500 metres of control cable.
