In 2021, the contract for the construction and interconnection of the new 500kV Valenzuela Substation was signed. This will be the most important in Paraguay arranging whit 100% of the energy generated by the Itaipú binational hydroelectric plant for the first time in history.
The work was awarded to the San José Consortium, made up of the Uruguayan companies SACEEM and Ingener, and Concret Mix from Paraguay. Will require an investment of 78 million dollars and will consist of the construction of a transformation substation in the town of Valenzuela, department of Cordillera, and the sectioning of power transmission lines at 500 kV and 220 kV, as well as other complementary works.
