APR ARGENTINA THERMAL POWER PLANT – 215 MW

Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico S.A. [the administrator of the wholesale electricity market] awarded APR Energy the installation, commissioning and operation, under a very tight deadline (3 months), of a 215 MW power plant which would be interconnected with the central existing 132 kV Matheu substation at Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina. APR would operate it for five years.

Being its first project in Argentina, Ingener was the contractor for the electro-mechanical assembly of the plant. It consisted in ten 25 MW dual-fuel (diesel and gas) aeroderivative turbines and all the necessary services for their operation: cooling water, fuel supply, power and control installation, as well as the 132 kV interconnection to the existing Edenor substation.
The completion date was a key factor in this project; the plant was expected to go on stream before the summer of 2016/17 to cover the increased demand for electricity resulting from the use of air conditioning equipment under high temperatures.
